The Mothers’ Union, of which the St. Peter’s branch is a part, is a worldwide fellowship of over 3 million Christians, which works to promote stable family life, provide a prayer support network and enables others to realise their full potential through help and training.
At St. Peter’s we meet monthly on the first Thursday at 9.30 am. in church for a service of communion to pray for our members world-wide. A branch Meeting is held in St. Peter’s Hall on the second Tuesday monthly at 10.30 am. Non‑members are welcome to both meetings. We have a varied programme of speakers and discussions. We contribute Christmas and Birthday cards to prisons through the diocese and send toiletries to the Women’s Refuge.
The Mothers’ Union has workers worldwide who work with their own people to provide help both practical and spiritual. Our Literacy and Development campaign is one such initiative. We raise funds to finance this work and also for the Relief Fund which acts quickly in time of need, particularly overseas. Within the Diocese we support the holiday for disadvantaged families and for the elderly. We join fellow members for monthly worship at the Cathedral and assist with Diocesan work.
